Inspiration in Jazz

The Drummer

The energy of jazz greats has always influenced my work.  As young man, I would go to Seattle clubs, my favorite was The Penthouse, and hear great legends of the late 1950s/early 1960s such as Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Modern Jazz Quartet, Oscar Peterson and others.  The place was truly special and as a young man, little did I realize how unique it was to have a drink and talk to these guys.  They left a lasting impression on me as an artist.  Through the years, I have painted many attributions to these musicians – most of them have sold and there are a couple I won’t sell, but this one, The Drummer, is one of the last remaining ones of the series and is available for purchase.
